iPhone users who are facing call drops and weak reception may finally get the cure from the carrier that has until now failed to fix the issue.
According to the CEO AT&T, John Stankey, the company expects equipment-supply constraints to ease by the end of summer, which have hampered its ability to improve its wireless network. He said that the supply-constraint issue bottomed out last month and is beginning to improve, particularly in New York. Last month, the company said the number of dropped calls on its third-generation, or 3G, network fell 6% in Manhattan and 9% in the New York metropolitan area.
Addressing the Sprint’s 4G craze which is slowly catching the attention of cell phone customers, AT&T also intends to start offering the 4G service LTE next year. Under ideal conditions, LTE will offer 40-50 Mbps for downloads, which is more than Sprint’s WiMax offers.
